The International Sfogato Music & Arts Festival

The Idea to organize the festival was born a couple of years ago and inspired by music and Frederic Chopin's artistic personality. What contributed to it becoming reality was proclaiming the year 2010 the Chopin Year thus commemorating his 200th birth anniversary. It is from his Barcarole op. 60, the fragment called dolce sfogato, that the festival got its name.
The 1st Festival accompanied a Science Conference organized by the Division of the Psychology of Health at KEN Pedagogical University in Cracow under the honorary auspieces of: Minister of Health Ewa Kopacz, The Mayor of the City of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski, The Rector of KEN Pedagogical Univesrity of Cracow, Prof. Michał Śliwa, The Rector of Academy of Music in Cracow Prof. Stanisław Krawczyński, The President of PAN Committee on Psychological Sciences in Cracow Prof. Maria Kielar-Turska. The theme of the conference was "Music and Human Health in the Psychological Perspective".
And that is also why the main aim of Sfogato Festival is to present how music, especially this of Frederic Chopin, can affect one's health and well-being. It also plays a great role as a source of inspiration since, in a way, music is a part of each person's life. When listening to music we experience all sorts of sensations, music has the power to enrich and shape human personality.
Sfogato Festival attempts also to present how versatile music and its implementations can be by organizing events like a concert of ringtones for mobile phones.
Apart from concerts, the program includes also painting and photography exhibitions. Among artists taking part at the previous year's edition of the International Sfogato Music & Arts Festival there were over 20 artists from 4 continents among others from: Poland, Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Russia, Finland, Brasil, Malesya, Japan, USA and Australia.
We would like to warmly invite all to the Royal City of Krakow and especially those for whom music is a source of greater inspiration.
